Chicago native Maverick Gawain has dropped a new project called “Stay At Home” in reference to the looming COVID-19 pandemic. He says that his 7-Track project was recorded and produced by him during the past two U.S. quarantines and shelter-in-place orders.
Even though you would think that the project would be full of references to the Coronavirus with track names like “Wash Your Hands” & “Quarantine Bae”, Maverick Gawain (pronounced Ju-Wan) doesn’t keep it that simple. Gawain hits us with bars related to the titles of the tracks that deliver a subliminal message of redemption and deliverance from vices of and from the streets.
From our view, it’s like the past two quarantine’s gave Maverick time to reflected on memories of being outside, thinking about what he would have done different if he had time to sit and think before. And honestly, I don’t think that Maverick was the only one who has had an opportunity to reflect during these quarantines as it had been reported that the rate of violent crimes dropped dramatically during the times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
